Yoko Ono and Sean Lennon Launch Anti-Fracking Video Contest | Ecorazzi

Through their initiative Artists Against Fracking, Yoko Ono and Sean Lennon have both just launched the #DontFrackNY video contest asking filmmakers to make the case against fracking.

The contest is designed to educate New York's Governor Cuomo and the public about fracking and its known dangers. Filmmakers can make one of two videos (or both if inspired). The website explains: “We’re looking for two types of videos: a 30-second TV ad and a short video. The 30-second TV ad should be directed at the Governor. The short video should focus on educating people about the hazards of fracking and gas company propaganda, and last no more than three minutes long.”

What do the winners get? Beyond the satisfaction of knowing that they have helped further the public discourse on a known environmental and public health hazard, the mother and son team will be the judges for the submissions. Winners will get to dine with the judges in New York City.

If you happened to miss it, Artists Against Fracking also had a full page ad in the New York Times yesterday asking Governor Cuomo to “Imagine there is no fracking.” Check out the full ad below.
